Tiger Blends Seamlessly with Bushes, Becoming Nearly Invisible

IAS officer Sanjay Kumar took to Twitter to share a video depicting a tiger blending seamlessly with its surroundings, concealed by the dense foliage of the forest.

A recent video shared on Twitter showcased the impressive camouflage abilities of tigers, which enable them to become stealthy hunters and surprise their prey. The video, posted by Sanjay Kumar, an IAS officer with a passion for nature, was filmed in the Pilibhit tiger reserve in Uttar Pradesh. In the 22-second clip, a tiger can be seen blending seamlessly into dense green foliage.

Initially, spotting the tiger is challenging, but as the camera zooms in, its presence becomes faintly discernible as it conceals itself within the bushes. Kumar mentioned in the tweet that rhesus macaques situated atop the trees were able to detect the tiger and raise an alarm, which is audible in the video.

Sanjay Kumar’s tweet

“Tiger is a stealth hunter and can hide camouflaged in undergrowth of forest floor easily. But rhesus macaques at tree top can spot them & alert all denizens. Here, the presence of a male Tiger in Pilibhit TR is busted by an alarm call,” he wrote.

Another close encounter

Back in April, a video circulated on Twitter, shared by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda, highlighting a concerning incident where a jeep safari came dangerously close to a tiger. According to reports, the incident occurred in Jim Corbett National Park, located in Uttarakhand.

The video portrays a scene where the Jeep is parked in close proximity to a growling tiger. The driver can be heard shouting, attempting to scare the tiger away as it starts charging towards the vehicle. In the background, a woman expresses her panic and urges the driver to reverse the jeep. As the vehicle starts reversing, the tiger retreats back into the forest. The footage underscores the potential dangers of such close encounters with wildlife.
