An RE Ride Abroad? Here's All You Need to Know About Royal Enfield's ‘Rentals and Tours’ Services

With the new services, renting a Royal Enfield motorcycle has become easy-peasy

Travelling around the world on a motorcycle is one of the most unique hobbies one can cultivate. And over the years, Indian motorcycle maker Royal Enfield and their motorcycles have attained the status of one of the best touring motorcycles on the planet. Despite the fact that most of the Royal Enfields do not fall in the tourer or adventure-tourer category and are powered by single cylinder engines, they are loved by riding enthusiasts globally.

Therefore, to make touring easy for those who only prefer riding Royal Enfields, the Chennai-based maker has launched ‘Rental and Tours’ motorcycle renting services globally. According to this new programme, riders will be able to rent Royal Enfield motorcycles not only in India but also in several other countries.

List of countries

The newly launched service by Royal Enfield is accessible in as many as 25 countries, including India, France, Italy, Scotland, Spain, Turkey, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Morocco, Namibia, South Africa, Nepal, Bhutan, and more. The service also provides tailored motorcycle tours to 62 trips and 52 destinations across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the two American continents. Under the guided tours, one gets access to a motorcycle, mechanic, spare parts, a rider guide, and a planned itinerary to the destination.

How to rent?

For those interested in renting a motorcycle from Royal Enfield, one needs to visit Royal Enfield’s official website and check out the rentals or tours section (https://www.royalenfield.com/in/en/rentals/search/; click on the link to directly visit the page). On the website, one can enter the start date and the finish date and select the country where the rider is currently. On the left, there is a filter menu through which one can choose the preferred model, price range, riding range they wish to cover, and the age of the motorcycle. Once all the selections are made, the rider will get to see all the available motorcycles in the vicinity.

Best REs for touring

When it comes to touring, here are the motorcycles we recommend for long hauls.

First on the list is the brand-new Himalayan, powered by the all-new Sherpa 450cc engine, the first liquid-cooled engine from Royal Enfield. The engine makes a peak power of 39.47bhp at 8,000rpm and a maximum torque of 40Nm at 5,500rpm with a top speed of around 163 kilometres per hour, making it as powerful as the KTM ADV 390. The motorcycle’s long travel suspension, adequate ground clearance, 17-litre fuel tank, luggage mounts, comfortable seats, touring riding posture, and Google Maps on the dashboard make it the perfect tourer from Royal Enfield.

Second on the list is the old-gen Himalayan 411. The 411 has been discontinued, but it can still be rented. Powered by a 411cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled, SOHC engine that makes a peak power of 24.31PS at 6,500rpm and a maximum torque of 32Nm at 4,000 - 4,500rpm. The motorcycle may fall short compared to the new-generation Himalayan, but it is still capable of conducting long hauls across all types of terrain.

The Meteor 350 equipped with accessories for touring

The third Royal Enfield motorcycle that we recommend for touring is the Meteor 350. Powered by a 349cc air-cooled engine, the motorcycle has a peak power of 20.4PS at 6,100rpm. The motorcycle is equipped with a touring windscreen, tripper navigation, and comfortable seats for both the rider and the pillion.
