Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, which was released on Netflix on August 9, will certainly keep you hooked from start to end.
If you have watched the 2021 film Haseen Dillruba, starring Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane, you must be aware of its twisted love triangle. With Neel being killed in the first part, Netflix’s Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba – which premiered on the OTT platform on August 9 – takes the story forward. In fact, this time, the engaging and twisted love triangle gets better with the addition of actor Sunny Kaushal.
With a dark yet sharp writing and pulpy storyline, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba offers the right twists and turns to keep the audience hooked.
Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba picks up from where the first part ended. Rani (Taapsee Pannu) and Rishu (Vikrant Massey) struggle to be with each other amid their tumultuous journey. However, this time the pulpy small-town crime is more complex with Sunny Kaushal joining as the new lover of Rani. There’s also Montu mama played by Jimmy Shergill, a police officer in Agra who knows that Rishu (Vikrant Massey) is alive, and both Rani and Rishi have been in Agra for a reason.
Abhimanyu, played by Sunny Kaushal, is a simple man who falls head over heels in love with Rani. But his character is way too complex and meaty, and his change of expression will send a chill down your spine. He is a compounder by profession, who certainly knows how to kill in the most ruthless way.
Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba starts with a recap of what Rishu and Rani have been doing since killing Neel. While they are constantly running away from the cops and are under the radar, they wish to reunite.
But they also have other love prospects around them, and yet they wish to remain with each other, so to believe. Their plans remain to hide for two months, and take an agent’s help later to go to a different country. However, when Montu comes up in the scene to uncover the truth about Neel's disappearance, things go haywire, and the two come up with a plan that he would not keep quiet until one is caught or dead. With constant planning and plotting, the situation gets worse and there’s more chaos that ensues.
The first half of Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba remains slow but it picks up, and at times, it feels better than its prequel. Helmed by Jayprad Desai, and written and co-produced by Kanika Dhillon, it delves into the psyche of the two star-crossed lovers, played by Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey. Backed by Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series Films, it will certainly end up impressing everyone who likes a bit of romance and thriller. Even with its minor flaws, the film is worth a watch.
