LPG Price and Booking Watch: What Users Should Check Before May 1

Ahead of 1st May, LPG users may have to pay closer attention to refill timing, delivery OTPs, Aadhaar eKYC and possible price revisions.
For most households, LPG booking is usually a small errand. Open the app, press refill, wait for the delivery call. Simple enough. But ahead of May 1, that familiar routine may need a second look.
Reports citing oil-marketing company discussions say LPG users could see stricter booking and delivery checks from May 1. The key change already being flagged is the booking gap: 25 days between refills in urban areas and up to 45 days in rural areas, instead of the earlier 21-day window. Booking attempts made too early may be blocked automatically.
OTP Delivery Is No Longer a Side Detail

The delivery process is also becoming more verification-heavy. Under the Delivery Authentication Code system, an OTP is sent to the customer’s registered mobile number after booking. That code must be shared with the delivery person before the cylinder is handed over.
It sounds like a tiny thing. But anyone who has changed phone numbers, ignored SIM updates, or uses a family member’s mobile number for the gas connection should check this now. NDTV reported that Delivery Authentication Code-based deliveries have already crossed 94.5%, with the system aimed at reducing diversion of subsidised cylinders.
eKYC: Who Really Needs To Act?

Aadhaar-based biometric eKYC is mandatory for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries who have not completed it yet. Customers who have already done the process do not need to repeat it. For PMUY users, this authentication is linked to targeted subsidy benefits and must be completed once in a financial year.
The official MyLPG portal also allows consumers to access company-wise LPG services, forms, PAHAL-related details, and LPG ID-based services. So, before May 1, users should check whether their LPG ID, mobile number, Aadhaar details and distributor records are clean and current.
What About Prices?

This is the part everyone will watch, obviously. Business Today reported that domestic 14.2 kg LPG cylinder prices have already increased by ₹60 across India, while commercial 19 kg cylinders have seen multiple hikes in recent weeks. A further price revision from May 1 is widely anticipated, though users should wait for official company-wise prices before assuming the final amount.
IndianOil’s petroleum product price page lists commercial LPG prices separately for metros, with Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai rates updated for April.
What Users Should Check Now
Before booking the next refill, users should confirm four things: registered mobile number, eligible booking date, eKYC status, and current city-wise price. LPG refills can be booked through WhatsApp, IVRS or missed call, SMS, provider apps, websites, and LPG ID-based portals.
The safest move is simple: check your booking window, update your mobile number, complete pending eKYC, and verify the latest price before ordering. A few minutes now can prevent refill delays later.
