F2 2023: India’s Daruvala Scores Double Podium at Jeddah Corniche Circuit

The Indian lad is known for his expertise at the Jeddah, and therefore, it was an easy double podium for our Jehan.

Jehan Daruvala, one of India’s finest racers who is presently competing in the Formula 2 world championship, won two podiums at the recently held Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, which takes place at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit every year. For the record, last season, too, Daruvala registered a podium finish at the Jeddah.

Sprint and main feature races

On Saturday, Daruvala finished third in the sprint race, followed by another third-place podium finish in Sunday’s main feature race. In the main race, he started from the fourth position, and along with his team, MP Motorsport, he opted for an early pit strategy. From there on, it was all about managing tyres, keeping a healthy pace, and defending his position.

The win has put Jehan Daruvala in the fifth position in the drivers’ championship standings with 24 points, only nine points away from leader Frederik Vesti.

On the other hand, India’s other racer, Kush Maini, had a poor Sunday because he finished in the 12th position outside the points.

Daruvala’s comments

After the successful weekend, Daruvala said, "This was a really strong weekend for us and some much-needed results after the disappointment of Bahrain. We were quick and consistent all throughout and we executed everything perfectly, which allowed us to capitalise on our potential. We can take a lot of confidence away from the Saudi round and I’m really looking forward to the upcoming races."
