The Ford Mustang Mach-E has received an update for the year 2024 but is not the only electric American muscle car on the market
Ford has upgraded the Mach-E electric muscle car for the year 2024. The successor of the last-gen model has an extended battery range – of 515 kilometres for the rear-wheel drive variant, whereas the standard battery is expected to offer a driving range of 450 kilometres. Even in terms of performance, Ford claims that the car can reach 97 kilometres per hour from a standstill in merely 3.3 seconds, which is better than the Tesla Model Y and Porsche Macan 4 Electric.
Not to forget, Ford has also reworked the charging capabilities of the car. Using a DC charge, the new Mach-E charges itself from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in little over half an hour. Overall, the Mach-E has improved itself compared to its predecessor and is likely to perform well in the EV market.
However, it must be noted Mach-E is not the only American muscle electric car in the world. There are a number of other models that deserve some limelight. In the following paragraphs, we have listed some of the top American muscle electric cars that have been launched or are in the pipeline to be launched.
Given car manufacturers are still not confident of experimenting with muscle cars, a London-based modifier named Charge Cars gave birth to an electric version of the 1967 Ford Mustang. The electrified Mustang crafted by Charge Cars boasts impressive acceleration, reaching 96 kilometres per hour from a standstill in just three seconds.
With a driving range of approximately 321.4 kilometres, it's equipped with a powerful motor generating a peak torque of 1,500Nm and horsepower of 536. Sporting a 64kWh battery pack, this Mustang can recharge from 20 to 80 per cent in an hour using a 50kW DC charger. With a starting price of £350,000, individuals can secure their reservation for the car through Charge Cars' official website.
The Dodge Charger was one of the most famous American muscle cars to be produced in the world. Therefore, Dodge is set to launch the next-gen electrified Charger in the coming months. The electrified Charger’s motor is called Charger Daytona Scat Pack, which features two motors producing 335hp – one powering the front wheel whereas the other powering the rear. As per the company, the electrified Charger can hit the 96-kilometre per hour mark from a standstill in merely 3.3 seconds. When launched, the car could be sold between 40,000 US dollars and 50,000 US dollars.

Chevrolet's decision to retire the iconic Camaro muscle car by the end of 2024 is a significant move as the company prepares to introduce a new Camaro and Corvette to compete with the Dodge Charger electric. While official details about these exciting new models are yet to be unveiled, we can anticipate that they will feature GM's Ultium EV architecture, offering forward-drive, rear-drive, and all-drive settings. Moreover, these cars are expected to boast a 400v-200kWh battery pack, providing a driving range of 644 kilometres.
In short, electric American muscles are the next great thing in the world of electric vehicles, and unlike in the past, the new-gen electric muscles are likely to reach Indian shores.
