Best Flatbreads In The World: Butter Garlic Naan And Paratha, Take Top Spot

Indian breads such as butter garlic naan and paratha are now part of the list of the best flatbreads in the world.

If you are an Indian who likes to eat dal or sabzi, or simply relish it as it is, you know the importance of a good flatbread and the difference it can make. Some of the most loved flatbreads that Indian cuisine has are Thepla, bhakri, koki, paratha, kulcha and naan. They are not only a staple but they find a place amongst world cuisine too. In fact, some of the Indian flatbreads are considered at par with their global counterparts.

Now adding to the excitement, as per a recent list of best flatbreads in the world, released by the online food guide Taste Atlas, Indian flatbreads are loved globally. The ranking, which was released on July 6, 2023, featured many Indian flatbreads in the top 50 and some of them include butter garlic naan, paratha and more.

Certainly, going by the list, Indian flatbreads are clearly making a mark globally. Among the top five on the list are - Butter garlic naan, which was on the number two spot, and naan collectively, which won the fifth spot in the list.

The best-rated flatbread on the top spot was Roti Canai, a Malaysian crispy bread which has multiple layers. It is also believed to be of Indian origin. Among the next few rankings were paratha, Amritsari kulcha and the simple roti. Aloo paratha, roomali roti, Kashmiri naan and aloo naan too featured on the top 50.

Coming to international breads, the list included lavash, pita bread, Focaccia and tortilla.
