Ather's Spacious Rizta EV on the Way: Five Roomy Alternatives to Look at in the Current Market

The upcoming Rizta was recently spotted testing in camouflage and is expected to go live on April 6.

Another date, another electric scooter, is set to say hello to the Indian electric automobile ecosystem. Bengaluru's Ather Energy, one of India's finest electric scooter makers, is set to reveal the Rizta electric scooter. The maker has not yet revealed any information regarding the scooter's engine, battery pack, power figures, or other specifications. However, the scooter's unique selling proposition is its roominess.

Therefore, in this article, we have listed some of the most spacious scooters currently available on the Indian market.

*Note that this list includes both electric and internal-combustion engine (ICE) scooters, and their prices may not be in the same range.

River Indie

Launched last year, the Rive Indie is one of the most recent scooters in the Indian market, with an ex-showroom price of around INR 1.38 lakh, ex-showroom. Powered by a 6.7kW motor, the scooter has a top speed of 90 kilometres per hour and a riding range of 120 kilometres. The scooter comes with a massive 43-litre boot space, which is the highest in the market, and can be used to store two full-sized helmets.

Ola S1 and S1 Pro

Second on the list are the S1 and S1 Pro from the house of Ola Electric. The S1 starts at INR 1.10 lakh, whereas the Pro model is priced at INR 1.30 lakh, ex-showroom. The Pro, being the top model, is powered by an 11 kW mid-drive IPM motor and has a riding range of 195 kilometres. In terms of design and space, both the models are identical, and therefore, they have a spacious floorboard and flat under-seat storage of 36 litres.

Ola S1 Air

The third scooter on the list is also from the Ola stable and is named the S1 Air. The Air starts at 1.04 lakh, ex-showroom in India, and is one of the more affordable models in the Ola line-up. The scooter has a top speed of 90 kilometres per hour, a riding range of 151 kilometres, and takes five hours to charge. The scooter comes with under-seat storage of 34 litres, which is more than sufficient despite the massive difference in the price tag of the Air, S1, and S1 Pro.

TVS Jupiter

The only scooter that features in this list is the all-new TVS Jupiter, thanks to the smart work of the TVS engineers. Instead of placing the fuel tank traditionally under the seat, the TVS engineers placed the fuel tank of the new Jupiter on the floorboard. Therefore, the Jupiter, despite being an ICE-powered scooter, has a boot space capacity of 33 litres. Starting at INR 89,000, Jupiter is powered by a 109cc engine that has a peak power of 7.77bhp @ 7500rpm and a peak torque of 8.8Nm @ 5500rpm.

Simple One

After years of delay, Simple Energy launched the One on December 15, 2023. Launched in two trims, the One and Dot One, at INR 1.64 lakh and INR 1.39 lakh, respectively, the scooter also comes with a 33-litre boot space similar to the TVS Jupiter. The two trims offer a riding range between 150 and 212 kilometres, making the Dot One a scooter with the highest range claimed by an electric manufacturer.

Moving back to the Rizta, the scooter is expected to be launched with a price tag of INR 1.40 lakh ex-showroom in the second half of 2024.
