Amidst this fervour, the creators recently unveiled the first glimpse into the persona of Amitabh Bachchan's character, who embodies the timeless essence of Ashwatthama in this cinematic extravaganza. Let's delve into South Indian actors who have collaborated with Amitabh Bachchan.

Rajinikanth

Directed by Mukul Anand, ‘Hum’ is an action film that dominated the box office in 1991, securing the title of the second highest grossing film of the year and earning the prestigious label of 'blockbuster'. This gripping action crime drama unfolds the tale of three brothers portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, and a youthful Govinda.  Alongside these iconic actors, the ensemble cast features talents like Kimi Katkar, Deepa Sahi, Shilpa Shirodkar, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher, and Kader Khan. The directorial prowess of Mukul S Anand propelled this film to phenomenal success, leading to its Tamil remake, ‘Baashha,’ where Rajinikanth stepped into Bachchan's shoes.

Kamal Haasan

In the riveting action drama ‘Geraftaar’ released in 1985, Amitabh Bachchan took on the role of the elder brother to Kamal Haasan's character, marking a dynamic collaboration between two powerhouse actors. Directed by Prayag Raaj, this film also boasted stellar performances by Madhavi and Poonam Dhillon in lead roles alongside Bachchan and Haasan. The gripping narrative and high-octane action sequences propelled ‘Geraftaar’ to blockbuster status, captivating audiences both domestically and internationally. The film also featured a cameo appearance by none other than Rajinikanth, further enhancing its star-studded ensemble.

Dhanush

Following his acclaimed Bollywood debut in ‘Raanjhanaa,’ Dhanush signed his second Hindi film venture, ‘Shamitabh,’ alongside the legendary Amitabh Bachchan. Directed and written by R. Balki, ‘Shamitabh’ unfolds as a satirical drama, presenting Dhanush in the role of a mute aspiring actor striving for recognition. Bachchan portrays a disillusioned drunkard, whose dreams of stardom were once fervent.

Rashmika Mandanna

Rashmika Mandanna, fresh off her success in the blockbuster 'Animal,' entered the Hindi film industry with a bang by joining the cast of 'Goodbye.' This heartwarming family comedy-drama, helmed by Vikas Bahl, features an ensemble cast including the iconic Amitabh Bachchan, the talented Neena Gupta, and a host of other notable actors such as Sunil Grover, Pavail Gulati, and Ashish Vidyarthi. In her debut Hindi role, Mandanna shines as Tara Bhalla, the daughter of Bachchan's character, Harish Bhalla.

Soundarya

Directed by E. V. V. Satyanarayana, ‘Sooryavansham’ initially faced disappointment at the box office but subsequently found a cult following through its television premiere. The film features Amitabh Bachchan portraying dual roles. The late Telugu actor Soundarya graces the screen as one of the female leads, contributing to the film's allure. ‘Sooryavansham’ stands as a remake of the 1997 Tamil-language film ‘Surya Vamsam.’
