On July 3, the Ambani family hosted the traditional 'Mausalu' ceremony as part of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding.

Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant are set to get married on July 12 in Mumbai in a grand wedding ceremony at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Ahead of it, their pre-wedding festivities have become the talk of the town, and their wedding has certainly become one-of-a-kind in India.

Ahead of their much anticipated wedding, the couple has hosted two lavish pre-wedding ceremonies. The first one was the star-stunned event in Jamnagar, which had the biggest names of the entertainment and business world present with the likes of Rihanna and Diljit Dosanjh performing. The second was onboard a French cruise, and the cruise bash was attended by their family members and several famous celebrities graced the event.

Now kicking off their wedding celebrations, the Ambani family, on July 3, hosted a traditional "Mausalu" ceremony for the bride. But what is the traditional "Mausalu" ceremony?

Well, as per Gujarati customs, Mameru, also known as Mausalu, is a traditional ritual and it has the bride getting wedding presents from her maternal uncle (mama or mausa). As part of the pre-wedding ceremony, the bride also seeks blessings from her maternal uncle. During the ceremony, the mama or the mausa gives the bride traditional Panetar saree, ivory or white bangles, jewellery, sweets and dry fruits, and the ritual plays a significant role in building a relationship between the maternal relatives of the bride and the groom's family.

Coming to the Ambanis, they hosted Radhika's pre-wedding ritual, Mausalu, on Wednesday evening at their Mumbai residence, Antilia. The Gujarati Mosalu also has the groom's mother's family blessing the couple with gifts and offerings. In this case, Nita Ambani's family, including her mother Purnima Dalal, offered gifts to Radhika, including clothes, jewellery and sweets.

For the traditional ceremony, Radhika looked stunning in a custom Manish Malhotra bandhani lehenga in rani pink colour and it featured gold taar zardozi details. Looking nothing short of a radiant beauty, Radhika complemented her look with heavy gold accessories from her mother's own 'Mameru' ceremony.

On the other hand, Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha Ambani looked regal in an orange saree by designer Arpita Mehta that featured tiered ruffles along with intricate patterns. Nita Ambani too grabbed everyone's attention with her pink lehenga, which she paired with an emerald and diamond jewellery. Several B-town celebrities, including Janhvi Kapoor, Manushi Chillar, Orry and others, were part of the event.

For those caught unaware, Anant Ambani is the son of Reliance moguls Mukesh and Nita Ambani while Radhika Merchant is the daughter of business tycoons, Viren and Shaila Merchant.
