In ‘Baby John,’ a riveting action drama penned and helmed by Kalees, Varun Dhawan takes centre stage as the eponymous character, flanked by a stellar cast including Keerthy Suresh (marking her Hindi debut), Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, and Sanya Malhotra. To commemorate Varun Dhawan's birthday, producer Murad Khetani, in collaboration with Atlee, who is backing the upcoming flick ‘Baby John,’ unveiled a new poster on social media. Accompanying the teaser was a poster showcasing Varun exuding raw determination, clutching a sharp weapon in his hand. Sporting a distinctive ponytail, his silhouette overlaid with the visage of a mythological entity, hinting at layers of depth within the narrative. At the helm of ‘Theri’ is director Atlee, while the gripping action thriller is brought to life by producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu under the esteemed banner V Creations. Drawing inspiration from Mani Ratnam's movie ‘Chatriyan,’ the film boasts a stellar cast including Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Amy Jackson, Nainika, Radhika Sarathkumar, Rajendran, and Mahendran. In the Hindi adaptation of Atlee's riveting ‘Theri,’ starring Varun Dhawan, ‘Baby John’ unravels the gripping tale of its titular character. Baby John, a retired police officer, stages his own demise to ensure his daughter's safety in seclusion. But trouble ensues when Baby John's shadowy past resurfaces, endangering their very lives. Forced to confront his former adversaries, Baby John embarks on a perilous journey to safeguard his daughter.

Initially shrouded in speculation, the question of whether Atlee, the director of the original film, would helm the Hindi remake remained unanswered. Ultimately, Atlee opted to take on the role of producer through his esteemed banner A for Apple Productions, entrusting the directorial reins to Kalees, his former assistant and director of ‘Kee.’ Originally known as ‘VD18,’ the film was later officially titled ‘Baby John’ and is set to hit theatres on May 31, 2024.
