Actor Rohit Saraf is all set to play the lead role in Ishq Vishk Rebound. However, he recently clarified that the upcoming film is neither a sequel nor a remake of the Shahid Kapoor-starrer film of the same name. Ishq Vishk, the 2003 romantic-comedy, marked Shahid’s Bollywood debut, and was loved by both critics and audiences, particularly for its soundtrack.
Ishq Vishk was helmed by Ken Ghosh and it also featured Amrita Rao and Shenaz Treasurywala. Now, for Ishq Vishk Rebound, it has been helmed by Marathi filmmaker Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari, and stars Rohit Saraf and Pashmina Roshan. Isha Vishk Rebound also stars Jibraan Khan, who played a child artist in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Naila Grrewal of Mamla Legal Hai fame.
Rohit, who is known for Netflix’s romantic comedy series Mismatched, clarified, “It’s not a remake or sequel of ‘Ishq Vishk. The thing common between the two films is that they belong to the same franchise. But it’s a new story altogether, a love story about Gen Z.” Check out the film’s teaser here:
Produced by Ramesh Taurani and co-produced by Jaya Taurani under the banner Tips Films Limited, the much-awaited film is all set to release in theatres on June 21.
A couple of days ago, the much-awaited teaser of the romantic comedy was unveiled by the makers, and it starts with Rohit talking about how people in love see the person they love in everyone else. The audience is then introduced to the other characters while the romantic track Chot Dil Pe Lagi from Ishq Vishk in the background. However, Rohit soon clarifies that this story is not about that kind of love, and we must say, Ishq Vishk Rebound looks promising. The fresh pairings add a level of excitement to the project. But fans are certainly missing Shahid in this sequel.
At the title track launch event of the film on Tuesday, Pashmina opened up about the pressure of carrying her family legacy considering she is Hrithik Roshan’s cousin, and said, “The pride is the legacy my family holds, the work they’ve done, I’m so proud of all of them. The pride, the luck, the support that I have come with, the pressure is to live up to that. To live up to their advice, to live up to their work, to make a place for myself in the industry where they have the hearts of the audience, that’s pressure.”
