Interesting facts about the ace director M. Night Shyamalan

A prolific director who is compared to the likes of Steven Spielberg and Alfred Hitchcock. Even though Manoj Nelliyattu Shyamalan was trying to prove his mettle in Hollywood for a long time but it was his 1999 blockbuster “The Sixth Sense” that made people sit up and notice him. The movie managed to capture the imagination of the audience, and the climax of the movie still baffles and then hit the viewers in the gut. Though he has his own share of success and failure, but nobody can question his intriguing and engrossing storytelling that keeps the audience to hooks. He made close to 45 short films while he was in school. Shyamalan was born to Dr Nelliyattu C. Shyamalan and Dr Jayalakshmi in Puducherry, India and soon after moved to the United States. Since he was born in the family of doctors, he too was expected to carry on the tradition and become a doctor, but M. Night Shyamalan fell in love with a camera at the tender age of eight and never looked back since. He made close to 45 short movies, which included spoofs from movies like James Bond and E.T., while he was in high school. His debut movie never saw the light of the day. While studying film-makingat the New York University in the year 1992, he went on to make his debut movie “Praying with Anger”. The movie dealt with the theme of the Identity crisis faced by Indian Americans in the U.S. Interestingly, Shyamalan acted in the movie, and the movie was financed by Shyamalan’s own family. The movie did garner some rave reviews but could not get a proper release. He was going to write and direct an Indiana Jones movie.  His love for the Indiana Jones franchise is evident by one of his short films that he directed while in school. He even got an offer to write and direct the exploits of the world-famous fictional archeologist, Indiana Jones, in the movie’s fourth installment. But he had to turn down the offer owing to his busy schedule. He once participated in a Hoax. In order to trick his audience, Shyamalan once with the help of Syfy, made a fake documentary named “Buried secret of M. Night Shyamalan. He presented the story of a boy in his neighbourhood who drowned and was the reason for his interest in the supernatural.
