Women today are capable enough to handle the responsibility be it their home, or even the nation. Kiran Bedi Kiran Bedi shattered the age-old gender norm in police services and became the first woman IPS officer in the year 1972. She diligently served the nation and was looked upon for her courage and patriotism for the motherland. After serving in Indian Police Service for nearly 35 years she opted for autonomous retirement in the year 2007. Her journey has some significant milestones like launchinga campaign against drug abuse in the national capital, initiating India Vision Foundation, and Navjyoti Delhi Police Foundation. She is also an accomplished tennis player and has won several awards including a Junior Tennis Championship. Sanjukta Parashar The name was enough to cause terror in the hearts of Bodo Assam militants. This courageous officer has arrested over 64 militants in 15 months and taken down six of them. She is the first IPS officer from the state of Assam. She fearlessly led a team of CRPF Jawans in the heart of terror-infected areas. It is believed that during this time she received several death threats but that didn’t stop her from being the most formidable police officer. Meera Borwanker Being the first women IPS officer to head, Mumbai’s Crime Branch Department solved remarkable cases like Abu Salem’s extradition. She also worked closely with the CBI and DIG of the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Delhi. Interestingly, the character of the protagonist of the movie Rani Mukerjeeis inspired by Meera Borwanker. She was awarded the prestigious President medal in the year 1997 with a Police medal and Director General’s insignia.
