With both sides winning one game each, the third will act as the series decider
The ongoing ODI series between India and South Africa is headed for a series decider in Visakhapatnam, with the first match going in India’s favour, whereas the Proteas stole the second game. With both sides’ batting lineups in rhythm, it is impossible to determine which team will emerge victorious. Therefore, we turned to ChatGPT and asked the AI to predict the winner of the third game.
Here’s what AI said.
AI favours India
The AI favoured India, starting with Virat Kohli, who looks settled after scoring two back-to-back centuries. ChatGPT also noted Kohli’s record in Vizag, including three centuries and being the top run scorer with over 500 runs in seven matches.

ChatGPT’s second point relies on India’s spinners. The team believes that when it comes to bowling, the team that controls the middle overs usually wins the game. Therefore, the trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar are likely to have an edge.

As per AI, if batting first, India must target a score above 350 runs. In Raipur, dew changed the scenario for South Africa while chasing, who took the game by a point, a point highlighted by captain KL Rahul.
What does South Africa need to do?
The AI firmly believes that South Africa should aim to bowl first and contain India to 300 runs or less. From the Proteas batting line-up, there’s enough talent to chase the target, as the world witnessed in Raipur.

ChatGPT ended the prediction by stating, “I’m calling it India in a close one, mainly because of middle-overs control at home and a batting unit that looks built to post (or chase) series-winning totals—provided they manage dew smarter than they did in Raipur.”
Predicted Playing XIs
Ahead of the game, ChatGPT also predicted the playing XIs of both teams.
India: Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (c & wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna.

Replacing Rana for Reddy, the AI explained its decision by stating, “India played an extra seamer (Harshit Rana) in Raipur. For a decider—especially with dew possibly being a factor again—India may prefer an extra all-rounder (Nitish) to deepen batting and still cover overs while keeping the main wicket-takers (Kuldeep/Arshdeep/Prasidh) intact. Also, Nitish is in the squad for the match-day pool in this ODI series.
South Africa: Quinton de Kock (wk), Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma (c), Matthew Breetzke, Tony de Zorzi, Dewald Brevis, Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch, Keshav Maharaj, Nandre Burger, and Lungi Ngidi.
