A Quick Guide to Stay Healthy and Fit This Summer

The hot season calls for a change in your overall lifestyle!

Summer is that time of the year when your body craves more care to stay healthy. The scorching heat (which, as experts suggest, is going to soar even higher in the coming days) and humidity wreak havoc on your health and put you at risk of various issues such as sunburn, heat stroke, dehydration, digestive problems, nausea, and more.

So, without further ado, let's discuss some easy ways that you can follow this season to avoid falling sick.

Stay hydrated

Let's start with the obvious one - never let your body get dehydrated in summer. So, drink at least 4-5 liters of water throughout the day. If it is too humid, try to have some Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS). You can also drink other fluids like juices, buttermilk, etc.

Avoid cold drinks!

Eat light and healthy

In summer, it is highly important to eat light and nutritious foods. Eat lots of seasonal fruits and vegetables as this will provide an enormous amount of different nutrients to your body. Sweet corn is a good option in summer as it helps improve your skin and hair health. Also, make sure to eat curd often as its probiotic properties will aid in your digestive system.

Update your workout regimen

Too much weightlifting is usually forbidden in the hot season. Instead, engage yourself more in aerobic activities to keep your heart healthy. The best options include swimming, hiking, brisk walking, cycling, etc.

Also, don't work out during the hottest part of the day (10 am to 4 pm).

Protect your eyes

The scorching heat of the sun is extremely harmful to your eyes. It causes issues like cataracts, burning sensation, itchiness, and more such issues. So, needless to say, you must pay more attention to your eyes during the hot season.

Wear sunglasses whenever you step out in the sun. Splash water on your eyes quite frequently, and make it a point to use some doctor-prescribed eye drops every night. Also, make sure to get your daily requirements of vitamin A and vitamin C.

Pay attention to your skin and hair

Summer has some terrible consequences on your skin and hair. So, you need to adopt a few hacks to avoid them and keep your skin and hair healthy.

Trim your hair every fifteen days to get rid of split ends. Wash your hair daily (using mild shampoo and conditioner), and limit the use of chemical products.

To protect your skin, apply sunscreen every day (even if you stay indoors). Also, eat lots of skin-healthy fruits and vegetables.
