Work from home has changed the way we function in our daily lives. While that has been a welcome move in most of our personal and professional lives, some people do miss commuting to work. In fact, studies have come up suggesting that commuting to work might actually be beneficial to your physical and psychological health. Here are a few reasons as to why commuting to work may actually be good for you even if you hate it!
It Creates Opportunities For You To Socialise With People
You may not be a people person, but as a human being, it is in your nature to crave social interaction. Your work and you personal life runs in routines of the same old thing in cycles. Commuting to work lets you breathe outside of that box where you get to socialise with other people outside of your daily life. Getting to know people will expand your horizon immensely. If socialising with strangers feels like too much for you, you can even socialize with your colleagues who travel on the same route. Building a rapport with your co-workers outside the office would create healthy workplace for you as well. Moreover, socialising during commuting would earn you perspective and would help your psychological well-being in general.
Commuting To Work Would Actually Give You Some Free Time
If you are busy with official or personal chores throughout your day, commuting may be the only time when you get to yourself. It is the free leisure time you can allow yourself. You can relax and read your favourite novel, watch a movie, or listen to some music. If nothing you can just be alone with your own thoughts. Treating the commuting time as your recreational time would help you relax and enjoy your free time in the way you really want to.
Commuting Allows You To Spend Time Outdoors
You never know, commuting to your work might be your daily dose of working out. Depending on the distance, you can even ride a bicycle or walk to your work. What matters is you will get out and breathe in some fresh air. This will freshen up your mind at the beginning or end of a tough work day. Commuting to work will actually help you get some physical exercise done.
