In a video shared on the internet by the Rajasthan Royals, Kumar Sangakkara is seen motivating the team after they lost to RCB by 112 runs.
Following RR’s dismissal for 59, Kumar Sangakkara gave an encouraging message in the dressing room.One of the most devastating losses in IPL history for Rajasthan Royals, who were wiped out for 59. The defeat of 112 runs inflicted by RCB cost RR badly as they plunged to the sixth place in the table. With their next IPL 2023 encounter against the Punjab Kings, Sangakkara advised his team to focus.
“We’ve got one more game to play. No amount of speaking and telling and doing all of that will resolve any of the issues that we have, something that we’ve got to step up and do. Right? Irrespective of what happens in other games, we have one more game to play and win. So, that’s all I want you [to] think about. Learn from this. Just move on. All right? I can see the hurt and disappointment,” Sangakkara said.
The Punjab Kings will be the opponents of the Rajasthan Royals’ 14th and last league stage game in IPL 2023. Instructing his men to focus on the upcoming game was how Kumar Sangakkara finished their team conference.
“All right boys, no individual names today. Know a lot of you guys tried hard and did well. But let’s get together for one more game when we get to Dharamsala,” concluded Sangakkara.
Details of the Debacle
At the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, RR let up 171 runs in their 20 overs to Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Royals got bowled out for 59 runs after losing wickets frequently while attempting to chase down 172 for victory. Only Shimron Hetmyer showed some resistance against the RCB. This was Rajasthan Royals second lowest inning in the IPL. In addition to that, it was the third lowest total ever in IPL.
