Was Neymar Joining PSG a Wrong Move?

In 2017, the Brazilian superstar left the Spanish club of Barcelona to join the French side of Paris Saint-Germain

When the report of Neymar looking for a ship out of Barcelona appeared for the first time, individuals refused to believe because the triumvirate of MSN (Messi-Suarez-Neymar) was one of the best in the world. In fact, it can be claimed with confidence that they were the best trio in the football universe at that juncture. In 2017, a day eventually arrived when Neymar signed a deal with Paris Saint-Germain and took a flight from Barcelona to Paris. A 200 million euros deal in 2017 left a vacuum in the spirits of the Barcelona fans who saw Neymar as the next significant thing after Lionel Messi. For the Barcelona fans, Neymar was the ideal successor to lead Barcelona after the Argentinean superstar. However, reports of an unhappy Neymar at Paris-Saint Germain emerged in no time. So, was Neymar joining Paris Saint-Germain an incorrect move?

Neymar’s stint at Paris Saint-Germain

When Neymar left Barcelona, he clarified that he left the club to establish an identity of his own. In short, the Brazilian icon left the Catalan side to get out of Lionel Messi’s shadow. Unfortunately, his move to PSG has not delivered him many laurels in the top European competitions as it is a learned fact that the Ligue 1 (French League) is not a competitive tournament when contrasted to the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, and Serie A.

Since joining Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar has put on an impressive play in the domestic tournaments and has helped the unit achieve several accolades on the French soil. The Brazilian national has accomplished three French league title, two French cups, two French league cups and two French Super cups. However, Neymar dos Santos has secured no trophy on the European circuit against the finest teams from other leagues and countries. Furthermore, his daydream of picking up a Ballon D’or and a Champions League trophy with Paris Saint-Germain has not been fulfilled yet.

With Barcelona, Neymar won almost everything

In a better competitive league and playing alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Luis Suarez; Neymar had an excellent time at Barcelona. In a delicate age, he kissed several trophies such as the Champions League, Spanish Cup, Spanish Super Cup, Spanish League title, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

The contrast can be clearly observed between the two clubs, and it can be asserted that his move to PSG turned out to be a miserable one.
