Space flights get boring, and therefore, a Game Boy felt like a good idea
From dogs to humans and cars, so many things, living and non-living from Earth, have been to space. However, one thing that surprised us the most was a video game. Yes, somebody took a video game to space and played it in their leisure time.
Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Serebrov was a Soviet cosmonaut who, in 1993, went on a mission to the MIR Space Station. In his personal belongings, he had a Game Boy.
The Gameboy and Serebrov left Earth on 1 July 1993 aboard the Soyuz TM-17 rocket.
While orbiting the planet, Serebrov had enough spare time to use his Game Boy.
And what was the first video game played in space? Serebrov played Tetris on his gaming console aboard the rocket.
The Game Boy and Tetris spent 196 days in space and orbited the Earth over 3,000 times.
