The park is spread across an area of over 5,700 hectares
Humankind has established that sustainable and renewable energy is the need of the hour. Therefore, humans have found new technologies to secure the needs of the present generation without compromising the needs of the future generation.
Among a plethora of sustainable and renewable energy sources, solar energy has the potential to serve millions of people around the world. This energy is harnessed by using solar panels, and India, one of the most developing countries, has a place that is hailed as its Solar Kingdom because it boasts a huge number of solar panels.
Located in Rajasthan’s Thar desert, Bhadla Solar Park is the 11th largest solar park in the world.
The location was deemed perfect for a solar park because, in peak summers, temperatures rise to 45 degrees Celsius.
Built in four phases, the first phase generated 65MW, whereas in the second phase, the park generated 650MW. The third phase generated 1,000MW, and the fourth generated 500MW.
The plant generates 2.245 gigawatts of renewable solar energy that aims to reduce India’s electricity demand from coal plants.
Apart from harnessing renewable and sustainable energy, India aims to generate 20 per cent of its required electricity from solar energy, and Bhadla Solar Park will help the nation achieve this target.
