There’s nothing more flattering than a loosely-fit, airy and free flowing kaftan but you have got to wear it right
A kaftan, also spelled caftan, is an ankle or knee length dress that has long and flowing sleeves. Usually a traditional dress in the middle-east, kaftans have found a way in the global fashion trends and are here to stay. Recently, kaftans have become highly popular giving a taste of both chic and classy formal wear as well as keeping it casual. Be it on a beach or on casual occasions, everyone can rock a kaftan. Here are some tips you need to keep in mind when you give the kaftan a try.
Choose Your Right Fabric
Match the fabric of your kaftan with the type of outing you are planning to wear it for. A kaftan can make or break your look if you do not select the fabric appropriate for an occasion. For example in case you are going for a casual outing choose a kaftan made in natural fabric like cotton or silk. On occasions of an evening party or a formal event go for fabrics like silk, satin, georgette or rayon.
Select The Right Length
There are both long and short versions of a kaftan. A short kaftan teamed with denim shorts or slim jeans would be a great choice if you are going for a casual event. On the other hand a medium length kaftan paired with leggings would be stunning for a office wear. Moreover, a long kaftan or one that is your mid-calf length would be stunning choice for a formal event like a cocktail party or a beach wedding.
Choose The Right Bag
Because it has a loose fit, a kaftan is usually oversized and looks baggy. Looks are all about creating a balance. Since a kaftan is loosely-fitted create balance by carring a small bag or a purse for a casual look. For a more formal event, you could carry a clutch or bag that compliments the colour of your kaftan.
Wear The Right Accessories
If you are going for a printed kaftan wear a pair of nude heels. However, one thing that makes kaftan so versatile is that you can team it up with any kind of shoes, be it high heels, wedge sandals. Moreover, make sure to enhance your look with chic or statement accessories, whatever is your vibe.
