During river rafting in Rishikesh, rafters got into a violent scuffle, which turned the already-dangerous adventurous water sport life-threatening for the tourists. The incident went viral on social media platforms, after which the Uttarakhand police started a probe, according to a report published by media outlet WION.

The incident

In the video, rafters are spotted thrashing each other with rafting paddles in the middle of the Ganga. Some tourists are also seen jumping into the river to escape the attack.

In the combatant raft, one person can be heard saying, "Park the boat to the side...You will sink us!" On the other hand, a guide is asking the rafters to be calm and sit back.

Police action

According to ANI, SP Tehri Garhwal Navneet Bhullar informed that police are investigating the case and a case will be registered. However, as of now, the reason behind the violent scuffle is not known.

On the other hand, a report by the Indian Express revealed that the incident is three days old, according to Muni Ki Reti SHO Ritesh Shah. Speaking to the Indian Express, Shah said, "We also do not know the exact location of this violent scuffle as there is not much in the video. There are two different police station jurisdictions in the Rishikesh rafting path. We are trying to confirm the rafting company based on the logo on the rafts… We will also write a letter to the tourism officer and request him to cancel the licence of the company and the rafting guide."
