Pro Tips On How To Make The Perfect Homemade Bread Loaf
Breads look humble but are a monster in the kitchen!
You have been trying your hands at baking bread at home and somehow you can’t seem to get it right! Making bread at home could be quite intimidating, we agree. However, years ago all the fancy bread making equipments we have today did not exist and still people managed to make a perfectly beautiful loaf of bread almost every day. Here are some tips for you to be able to bake your own bread like a pro!
Use The Correct Type Of Yeast
There are essentially three types of yeast –fresh yeast, easy bake yeast and active dried yeast. The type of yeast you should be using depends on the type of bread you would be making. Make sure you check and recheck your recipe to finalize on the type of yeast you should be using for your bread making. Moreover, remember to check the expiry date on your yeast. If you have really old yeast, it would not work making all your effort go down the drain.
Don’t Prove The Dough For Too Long
When you are making bread at home and you set it aside to prove it, you might end up forgetting about it entirely while being engaged in your house chores. The rising times of the bread dough depends entirely on the room temperature and the recipe you are following. Usually, one to one and a half hours is enough for your bread dough to rise. If you leave you dough alone for too long, it might sink back because the carbon dioxide that the yeast generates dissipates with time.
Use Vitamin C
This is a trick that not many know of. Using vitamin C in your dough could give it a better rise. Vitamin C acts as a strengthener for the gluten in the flour. So, adding a little amount of it, say a pinch, would not only give the bread loaf a great rise but also increase the rising process. However, keep in mind that this is a tip to be used for when you are making wholegrain bread in a bread making machine. If you are not using a machine using vitamin C would be a bad idea as it could make the process a little too fast.
