Prague's Most Unique Traditions

The art of living in Prague like its natives

In the Czech Republic, locales strictly follow a couple of ways to breathe in the city’s hustle-bustle.

Enjoying a Chill Beverage by the River at Naplavka

The stretch by the Vltava River is called Naplavka and is an ideal place to socialise or simply reminisce the old times with a glass of your favourite beverage for company. Locals flock to this area cosy during the warmer months. You can simply enjoy the surroundings while dangling your feet over the water to soak in the therapeutic effect!

Surrender to the Tranquil Hum at the Letna Garden

At the first hint of spring, the place blooms in all its vigorous beauty with a stunning view of the old town sprawling below. Perched across Vltava River, the hilltop garden is the perfect place to bask in the panoramic view of the city.

The sitting arena is covered by a dappled shade and it is pretty common to grab a seat and nurse your body depleted and famished after the climb through semi-wooded paths. Since the place remains open well into the autumn and closed throughout winter, spring is perhaps the perfect time to spot the picturesque greenery and beautiful streets of Letná.

Hollering through the Night at Stalin

Letná Park once hosted Europe’s largest group statue of Joseph Stalin which has been replaced by the metronome now. Nonetheless, nostalgia has somewhat managed to retain the old-warm charm of this place, forever fading in memory, amongst the youngsters.

The place is uber cool to hang around with the sun setting on the horizon and give in to the breeze and calmness during the summer evenings as the locales do.

Watching the Frenzied Crowd at the Christmas Market in the Old Town Square

The tourist-filled Square never gives up on basking in its own charm no matter how congested it becomes with the influx of visitors. The market’s full splendour is witnessed, after all, when it is spilling with revellers. Decked in arrays of twinkling Christmas lights and quaint wooden stalls selling traditional foods and handwoven knick-knacks, Christmas Market is a pilgrimage for the soul.

Grocery Shopping at Jiřák Farmers’ Market

The market is brimming with fresh produces be it flowers, veggies, cakes or traditional cheese. Hoarding the items for an amazing meal, later on, is certainly a wholesome and full-filling experience on a trip to the city. Once done with shopping, sit back and watch people flock in and out in a strange rhythm.
