Cardi B was spotted holding a live crow outside the Petit Palais as she wore a Schiaparelli gown during Paris Couture Week 2025.
American rapper Cardi B had left everyone talking after she used a live crow as an accessory at Schiaparelli’s Fall/Winter 2025-26 couture show during the opening day of Paris Haute Couture Week. The 32-year old was spotted at the Petit Palais in a custom Schiaparelli gown – fringed and bold. However, it was the live crow sitting on her arm that made the photographers back up. With feathers puffed, the bird scanned the crowd, and made everyone stop in awe.
Nonetheless, Cardi B's Schiaparelli outfit is the latest addition to the fashion house's list of dramatic ensembles. For years, Elsa Schiaparelli, the founder of the house, has been the force behind absurd outfits, be it lobster dresses,or hats shaped like shoes. In fact, Daniel Roseberry, the brand’s current artistic director, too has taken the legacy forward. With the Fall 2025 couture show, there has been a striking move towards black and white, and making the outfits devoid of all the colour. With sharp tailoring and oversized silhouettes, the show felt like a mood in itself.
It is rather interesting to note that unlike his past collections – which were known for extreme body shaping, this one had flexibility.
As per a report in ABC News, the designer revealed that Elsa’s 1940 escape from Nazi-occupied Paris to New York has been the inspiration behind the show. Apparently, the moment - between destruction and survival - is what inspired it. With Petit Palais hosting the show, there’s also been an exhibit on Charles Worth, the British designer who invented haute couture.
Coming to Schiaparelli, it has always focused on fashion that’s handcrafted, and strange. And after it relaunched a decade ago, Schiaparelli still knows how to shock the audience. It has become a favorite on red carpets for years, and the idea of surprise is its main USP.
With Cardi B’s crow shrieking at the red carpet, it was clear that Schiaparelli creates moments, and theatrical fashion moments. Her dramatic black fringe gown was designed by creative director Daniel Roseberry, and the outfit channeled themes of reinvention, and surreal beauty.
