The actor celebrates his 55th birthday today. On this occasion, let's have a look at his journey to stardom.

Dilip Joshi's journey from earning Rs 50 in theatres to Rs 1.5 lakh per episode in 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'

Dilip Joshi began his acting career in Gujarati theatre. He worked as a backstage artist for a long time and then appeared as an actor in a few plays.

He revealed in an interview that he used to get Rs 50 per role at that time.

In 1989, he made his debut in Bollywood in the Salman Khan-starrer 'Maine Pyar Kiya'. He played the role of Ramu in the film, and although it was a small role, he received praise for his performance.

He then went on to star in films like 'Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani', 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!', etc.

The amount he used to get at the time was still not huge, but it kept him motivated to keep going forward.

Joshi then stepped into the television industry and appeared in shows like 'Kabhi Yeh Kabhi Woh', 'Kora Kagaz', 'Hum Sab Ek Hain', 'Shubh Mangal Savadhan', 'Aaj Ke Shrimaan Shrimati', and more.

During the mid-2000s, he saw a hard time and was jobless for almost a year. Finally, in 2008, he started playing the role of Jethalal Champaklal Gada in the sitcom 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'. The rest is history!

According to a report, Joshi earns approx 1.5 lacks per episode of the show. Also, his net worth is estimated to be around Rs 43 crore. Hence, he is now one of the highest-paid actors in Indian television.

So, hard work always pays off!
