A rapper and actor, Tupac Shakur was considered one of the most influential rappers of all time, having sold more than 75 million records worldwide. Being born to political parents, most of Tupac Shakur’s music addressed contemporary social issues and later was seen as a symbol of activism against inequality. In 1991 after the release of his debut album 2Pacalypse Now, Shakur rose to fame for his conscious rap lyrics, followed by albums such as Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z…, I Against the World and All Eyez on Me were all-time hits and a favourite among the fans. While Tupac Shakur’s musical career was a hit, the singer-rapper also dabbled in Hollywood and acted in a few films. Here is a list of Tupac Shakur films that you must watch.

Nothing but Trouble

This 1991 black comedy horror film by director Dan Aykroyd is based on a story by his brother Peter. The film stars actors Chevy Chase and Demi Moore portraying the role of yuppies who are taken to court for speeding in the small town of Valkenvania. And you will get to see Dan Aykroyd as the town’s 106-year-old judge who has a personal grudge against financiers. With movies, Tupac Shakur made his acting debut essaying the role of a member of the rap group Digital Underground.


This 1992 crime thriller film by director Ernest R. Dickerson stars Omar Epps, Jermaine Hopkins, and Khalil Kain, besides Tupac Shakur. The story of the film revolves around the lives of four black youths – Roland Bishop, played by Tupac Shakur, Quincy “Q” Powell, played by Omar Epps, Raheem Porter, played by Khalil Kain, and Eric “Steel” Thurman, played by Jermaine ‘Huggy’ Hopkins – growing up in Harlem. The film follows their day-to-day activities, struggles, harassment, rivalries, and families. This film was Shakur’s debut film. The film takes an uphill turn when the group decides to do something about the harassment.

The 25-year-old rapper, singer and actor, was a gem, but he left too soon. And despite all the challenges he faced, Tupac Shakur was a successful and talented artist.
