Meghan Markle and Prince Harry receive invitation to King Charles III's coronation, yet to confirm attendance

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been invited to King Charles III's coronation, but it is still unclear whether they will be in attendance for the May 6 ceremony in the United Kingdom.

Information

As per a statement by a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex over the weekend, which was reported by People, a US-based media company, it was confirmed that The Duke has received email correspondence from His Majesty's office regarding the coronation. However, the spokesperson did not disclose any immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend the coronation.

As of now, Buckingham Palace has not issued an official statement regarding this matter. The relationship between the Sussexes, who moved to Meghan's home state of California in 2020, and the royal family has remained tense after Prince Harry's memoir was released in January.

Prince Harry's Thoughts on King Charles III's Coronation

During an interview with ITV's Tom Bradby regarding the book, Harry expressed his thoughts on the coronation, saying, "There's a lot that can happen between now and then. But, you know, the door is always open. The ball is in their court. There's a lot to be discussed, and I really hope that they are willing to sit down and talk about it."

King Charles on the Family Disagreement

According to a source close to the royal household, as reported by People, King Charles, who is 74 years old, is keen on the situation to calm down before his coronation.

The source mentioned, ""It is such a momentous occasion for Charles, and he would want his son to be at the coronation to witness it. He would like to have Harry back in the family. If they don't sort it out, it will always be part of the King's reign and how he has left his family disjointed. He has had a reputation as a distant parent, and it would be awful for him for that to continue."

Recently, it has been reported that Meghan and Harry have received an invitation to attend the coronation. This news comes shortly after a spokesperson for their Archewell Foundation disclosed that the couple has been asked to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage in the UK.

The spokesperson was quoted saying, "We can confirm The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage."

Will Prince Harry and Meghan set aside Personal Conflicts for thr Better Good?

According to royal historian Robert Lacey, despite previous tensions, the family has managed to come together in the past.

Lately, Lacey commented that there have been significant disagreements between them. However, he mentioned that the Platinum Jubilee, as well as the funerals of the Queen and Prince Philip, have demonstrated that they can set aside personal conflicts for the greater good. Lacey believes that the coronation will also be about prioritizing the bigger cause over personal enmity.
