IPL 2026: A County-Wise Break Down of Foreign Players

Nearly 14 players, each from Australia and England, will participate in the IPL 2026

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been a platform to showcase talent and dominance, not only for the Indian players but also for foreign talents. Therefore, it is not surprising that the 2026 edition also features a multitude of overseas players, eager to take the field for their respective IPL teams. Ahead of the season opener, let's check out a country-wise player breakdown.

South Africa

From South Africa, we have Dewald Brevis for Chennai Super Kings, Lungi Ngidi set to represent Delhi Capitals and Kagiso Rabada for Gujarat Titans. Aiden Markram, Matthew Breetzke, and Anrich Nortje will play for the Lucknow Super Giants; Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch will don the Mumbai Indians jersey, whereas Marco Jansen is the Punjab Kings’ sole South African.

As many as four players, such as Donovan Ferreira, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Kwena Maphaka and Nandre Burger, will represent the Rajasthan Royals, whereas Heinrich Klaasen will continue his role with the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Australia

As in South Africa, 14 Australians will play in the IPL 2026. Matthew Short and Spencer Johnson will represent Chennai Super Kings, whereas Mitchell Starc and Jake Fraser-McGurk will play for Delhi Capitals. Cameron Green has been picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders, whereas Marcus Stoinis, Mitch Owen, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis and Xavier Bartlett are all part of the Punjab Kings.

Josh Hazlewood and Tim David will defend the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and finally, Travis Head and Pat Cummins will don the orange jersey of the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

England

From England, 10 players are in the IPL for the 2026 season. The players are Jamie Overton for the Chennai Super Kings. Jos Buttler, Tom Banton, and Luke Wood will play for the Gujarat Titans, whereas Jofra Archer will represent the Rajasthan Royals. Phil Salt, Jordan Cox, and Jacob Bethell belong to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru camp, whereas Brydon Carse, Liam Livingstone, and David Payne will represent Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The West Indies

The number of West Indies players stands at eight, with Akeal Hosein representing Chennai Super Kings and Jason Holder for Gujarat Titans. Roman Powell and Sunil Narine are part of the Kolkata Knight Riders, whereas Nicholas Pooran belongs to the Lucknow Super Giants. Shimron Hetmyer is to play for the Rajasthan Royals, and Romario Shepherd represents the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Apart from these four countries, a handful of the players are from New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.
