Will Jacks sustained a muscle ailment while serving with the international team.
Royal Challengers Bangalore has been dealt a massive injury blow just two weeks ahead of the start of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. English all-rounder Will Jacks got injured during his international duty against Bangladesh.
Jacks would have made a perfect backup for all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and was signed by the team for a staggering Rs 3.2 crore. However, he ended up hurting himself in the most recent second ODI versus Bangladesh, and as a result of scans and professional consultations that followed, he will have to miss the 2023 IPL.
The 24-year-old amassed 2802 runs from 109 T20s at a strike rate of 157.94, including one century and 23 fifties. He made his T20I debut vs Pakistan in September, 2022 and got his Test cap in December. This injury is going to hamper his chances at the upcoming World Cup too.
According to ESPNcricinfo, as a prospective Jacks alternative, RCB has started talks with New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell. Bracewell participated in the IPL mini auction, but with a starting price of Rs. 1 crore, the Kiwi star found no buyers.
RCB will begin their IPL 2023 adventure on April 2, 2023, against the four-time champion Mumbai Indians at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
