India is set to play three ODIs against South Africa, with the first one scheduled to go live on November 30
At the time of drafting this article, it appears India is set to lose the second Test match against South Africa, having already lost the first. Up next, India will take on South Africa for a three-match ODI series, followed by a T20 series. Given India’s struggling form at the moment, it is tough to determine the team’s outcome. Less than a year ago, fans and pundits had confidence in the Indian side, but now, it’s hard to say which way the game will sway.
Therefore, we turned to ChatGPT and asked it to predict the series' outcome. Here’s what the AI said.
AI’s squad analysis

The AI feels India’s squad has more depth at home and looks strong on paper, with Rohit, Jaiswal, Kohli, Rahul, Pant, and Jadeja offering a perfect left-right combination. In terms of bowling, given India mostly relies on tailor-made spin tracks, the trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Jadeja, and Washington Sundar could be deadly. Not to forget, with the new ball, Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna could do damage to South Africa early in the game.

AI took into account the head-to-head ODI count between the two nations, led by South Africa, which is also riding high on confidence after the Test series victory. ChatGPT also mentioned, “De Kock, Markram, Bavuma, Tony de Zorzi, and Dewald Brevis can all change a game, while Marco Jansen provides invaluable all-round balance. Maharaj, plus the likes of Ngidi and Jansen, give them tools for all phases, but Kagiso Rabada’s recent rib injury and workload management concerns may limit his role across the tour, slightly weakening their cutting edge.”
Prediction for teams

Moving on to team predictions, ChatGPT favoured India to win the series 2-1. The AI believes Ranchi’s relatively true pitch will help India score more than 300 runs, and Indian spinners will do the rest of the job. However, in Raipur, where there’s more grip and variable bounce, South African bowlers could have the day. Visakhapatnam will be the series decider, where both teams will fight it out, but India will eventually emerge victorious.
Individual performances

Projecting individual performances, ChatGPT shows faith in Virat Kohli, believing he could finish with 220-250 runs in the series, whereas from the bowling department, Kuldeep Yadav gets AI’s vote to be the top wicket taker. From the South African dugout, batting efforts are likely to be collective, but from the bowling front, Maharaj and Jensen could have their names in the wicket tally chart.
