Health and Fitness: Items to Remove from Your Bedroom

The art of decorating a bedroom within budget and without fidgeting

The bedroom as a sanctuary is sold in a capitalist-consumerist manner. But, in all honesty, you need not purchase garish paraphrenia or splurge to make the four corners sustainable. Cramming the bedroom and storing multitudes of items is something not suggested for the bedroom space.

A few essential don’ts while arranging your bedroom essentials.

Office Clutter

Gadgets, paperwork, and sharp, stationary objects from the office shelved in the bedroom are never a good idea. While gadgets are a source of radiation and artificial light and directly affect health, sharp objects, too, could be injurious. Electronic gadgets meddle with the body’s melatonin production and circadian rhythm. This leads to sleep deprivation, mood swings, irritation, headache, and fatigue.

Also, you will find yourself most distracted in the presence of a hoard of technology. Tablets and smartphones make us give in to impulses—be it binge-watching or doomscrolling, which ultimately affects health and relationships.

Beauty and Hygiene Products

Skincare and haircare products must be placed in the fridge and/or bathroom, where they truly belong. This guarantees two things: cleanliness and zero risks of contamination. Proper arrangement of these products in their designated places prevents the spilling of foreign substances hanging in the air or landing on sheets and furniture. This reduces dust and the chances of allergy.

Bright, Vivid Colours

As much as dazzling colours might lend a sense of euphoric happiness, they tend to trigger or worsen insomnia. Such vivid, pop colours stimulate the brain and keep you awake. Interior decorators always advise calming earth hues as the better alternative. Nonetheless, you may still retain a few aesthetic accessories in bright colours to let the two tones blend in harmoniously. But it is best to avoid swathes of brightness to maintain a sleep-inducing, peaceful, and relaxing environment.

Heaps of Bric-a-Brac

Visual clutter feeds on aesthetics and tranquillity. Your bedroom should evoke calmness and relaxation to achieve which you need to do away with the mess. To improve the visual and make it more soothing, you may work on the décor, and shelves, do away with sharp objects and extravagant furnishing, pile-ups, and unnecessary décor. A simplistic and minimalist design would work wonders to make you feel more welcomed and at ease.

Mirrors and Reflective Surfaces

A mirror facing the bed is a terrible décor idea especially when you are struggling with insomnia and restlessness. Mirror tampers with the energy flow and reflects an ounce of negative energy. This maintains the continuous inflow of negative thoughts and emotions and a constant state of jitteriness. Besides, this frequent seeing of oneself in the mirror also encourages vanity and intrusive thoughts and injects an abnormal dose of narcissism. The unwavering emphasis on appearances shifts the focus from nurturing the body, mind, and soul. Excess mirrors make you hyper-aware of yourself, and trust me, it is not healthy.

Artwork with Negative Images

Artworks with negative connotations and disturbing images should be shoved far away from your bedroom to facilitate a positive aura and intimacy in the bedroom. Such artworks could be as simple as animals fighting, men at war, barren landscapes, scenes from epic hunting, and pictures of your deceased pets. Whatever artwork you place should stimulate calm, joy, and mindfulness.

Keep the tones subdued and fabrics comfortable. Try to achieve symmetry with the space by keeping things balanced. You may consider feng shui if you are at a loss with the arrangement of the vacant space; however, it is equally important to consider science and rational thinking while weighing in what to put and in which specific direction.
