Good News of the Day: Vande Bharat Express Trial Run on Mumbai-Goa Route Deemed Successful

The trial for the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express was successfully completed using the rake of the Mumbai-Shirdi Vande Bharat Express.

According to officials, the semi-high-speed Vande Bhagat Express train was tested on Tuesday between Mumbai and Goa. At 5:30 AM, a Vande Bharat rake with a top speed of 180 kmph departed from platform 7 of the CSMT in Mumbai and arrived at Madgaon station in Goa at 12:50 PM. The rake left Madgaon at about 1:15 and arrived at CSMT at 8:50. According to officials, the testing was conducted using the rake of the CSMT-Shirdi Vande Bharat Express, which does not operate on Tuesdays.

Three Vande Bharat Express trains currently run between the nation's financial centre and Ahmedabad, Solapur, and Shirdi. Senior railway officials are looking into the potential of running Vande Bharat Express trains on the well-travelled Mumbai-Goa line, which experiences significant traffic year-round, according to officials. Indian Railways has an electric multiple-unit train called the Vande Bharat Express.

Nagpur-Bilaspur halt

If the recently abandoned Nagpur-Bilaspur route is regarded as a temporary halt in the train's operations, the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express will be the fourth semi-high-speed train from Mumbai, which currently shares the top spot on the route map with Delhi with four trains each.

Due to low ridership, the Railways recently discontinued the Vande Bharat train's service on the Nagpur-Bilaspur line and replaced it with the Tejas Express. On the Tirupati-Secunderabad route, the rake was dispatched. There are currently 16 Vande Bharat Rakes operating on 15 routes in India.

The CST-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express would cut down on the eight- to nine-hour one-way travel time between the two stations, which are already connected by a number of trains. Currently, the Vande Bharat Express links Mumbai to Gandhinagar, Shirdi, and Solapur.

PM to launch Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express

On May 18, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will likely start the Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat train in addition to the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express. For West Bengal and Odisha, this would be their second Vande Bharat. There will likely be a second Vande Bharat Express connecting Ranchi in Jharkhand and Patna in Bihar.
