Throughout the day’s hard work, be it sitting comfortably in our office chair or being on the run, our body by the end of it starts to smell. Though we have all got into the habit of using deodorants, the strong body smell is hard to get off. This body odor also known as bromhidrosis takes places when the body sweat comes in contact with the bacteria on the surface of the skin, leading to an unpleasant smell.

What causes body odor? It is natural for bodies to produce scent; however, it becomes a point of concern when those odors become strongly unpleasant. It can occur due to heavy exercising, due to the warm or hot weather, being overweight, change in hormones, or due to health conditions, like diabetes, liver disease, or kidney disease.

Vinegar soak Our feet are one of the biggest sources of odor. To get rid of the stinking feet smell, combine one part vinegar, two parts of water, and a few drops of your daily essential oil. Mix the components well and soak your feet soak in that for 10 to 20 minutes. Repeat this practice once a day and notice the smell go away.

Coffee body scrub Interestingly, coffee grounds are known for their odor-absorbing properties thanks to their powerful aroma. You can use the coffee as a scrub and rub them on your hands to remove the strong kitchen smells like fish, garlic, and onion. At the same time, coffee grounds can be used to reduce body odor, by using it as a body scrub to remove the dead skin cells. Combine one part of coffee grounds with one part coconut or olive oil, few drops of your daily essential oil, and mix well to form a paste. Now, apply this paste to your wet body and gently exfoliate for about a few minutes and rinse.

Lemon water cleanse Lemons are rich in vitamin C and citric acid that help protect the body from odor-causing bacteria. Lemon water can change the body’s pH level. But remember that the acids in the lemon react harshly to the sun, so it is advised to apply only at the night. Mix juice of half a lemon in one cup of water, then either drink this or apply it to the skin.

While there are natural home remedies to make use of and get rid of body odor, one has to pay attention to their diet as well. Avoid fatty foods, oils, or strong-smelling foods such as garlic, curry, and onions as these foods after processing can seep through the body pores and cause body odor.
