Foods that prevent acidity

By being careful and understanding our stomach we can heal it

Thanks to our hectic lifestyle and schedule involving erratic work hours, no proper food time, no proper sleep hours, and with no proper physical exercise has affected our bodies. Since we do not have any fixed or proper time or schedule to eat, sleep, walk or exercise, it is our stomach and brain taking all the brunt. Under such circumstances when the body doesn’t get the necessary food intake it naturally starts to produce acid reflux which occurs when there is acid backflow from the stomach into the esophagus.

Acidity is the one thing that catches us off guard, whether at work or home, our working atmosphere makes us vulnerable to heartburn – the fire-like feeling, burning, and scorching pain arising from the stomach reaching up to our throat. It is here to understand that the foods you eat highly affect the amount of acid our stomach produces. Therefore, eating the right kinds of food is the key to controlling acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a severe, chronic form of acid reflux. So here are foods that are naturally grown and are immensely useful in preventing acidity.

Acidity has no age and gender bar for it to show up.  The oily, spicy, and rich food at irregular hours is also a major trigger for acidity.

Ginger
This herb has natural anti-inflammatory properties. Add grated or sliced ginger root to recipes or smoothies or drink ginger tea to ease symptoms. Doctors recommend ginger as a dietary treatment for heartburn and advise you to incorporate it into your diet no matter what. Even steeped in hot water for tea, or chewed on like candies can do wonders for the stomach.

Oatmeal
A breakfast favorite, oats is a whole grain and an excellent source of fiber. So a diet high in fiber is always linked with a lower risk of acid reflux. The other fiber options include whole-grain bread and whole-grain rice. By consuming a bowl of easily-digested oats will provide an acid reflux-free day.

Aloe vera
The aloe vera gel is good for skin when sunburned, similarly drinking aloe vera juice will help relieve the burns of acid reflux.

Watery foods
By digging into foods naturally high in water content can dilute and weaken the stomach acid. So choose foods such as celery, cucumber, lettuce, watermelon, broth-based soups, and herbal tea.

Other foods that can help are non-citrus fruits like melons, bananas, apples, and pears. High-fiber foods like oatmeal, couscous, and brown rice.
