Five Tips to Avoid Plastic in Daily Life

Like any other crucial matter, environmental problems should receive equal attention.

We all know that plastic is one of the many reasons for environmental pollution, but we cannot avoid its use in our everyday life. However, we can come forward to plan minor initiatives to bring change.

So, here are some tips to reduce the use of plastic in our daily life.

  • Use Steel or Copper utensils as an alternative. We can replace plastic water bottles by purchasing copper or steel water bottles. As we know, drinking water from plastic bottles has been proven harmful to our health. However, according to Ayurveda, replacing them with steel or copper bottles can benefit our health. Also, we can buy all metal utensils as a replacement for plastic. Nowadays, portable steel glass is available in the market. All these products are costlier than plastic products, but they are more stable and durable than plastic ones.
  • Wooden toothbrushes are one of the other options available in the market. Nowadays, a lot of companies are making wooden toothbrushes. If we get into the habit of using them, it can make an initiative towards environmental safety. It is a little costlier than the regular toothbrush, but once there is an equilibrium between supply and demand, the price might go cheaper. Similarly, wooden exam boards, vegetable chopping boards, chairs, and utensils are much more sturdy and better than plastic.
  • Avoid purchasing plastic toys for kids. It might be a difficult task because most of them are plastic-made. However, if you check the internet, you might come across stores having various alternatives to solve this problem. Since we are aware of the harmful effects of plastics, we must create a market demand for environment-friendly toys to increase their supply.
  • We must reduce Plastic Use in Daily Essentials. It is really tough but not impossible. First of all, stop using all kinds of plastic carry bags. There are plenty of other options available- cloth bags, jute bags, etc. which are reusable and not so costly. Now the bigger problem is how to avoid packaged items. We can solve this by replacing plastic packaging with environment-friendly materials.
  • Use Homemade Products. Instead of using packaged shampoo, we can easily make homemade shampoo using various herbal ingredients. Also, natural (or homemade) skincare and haircare products have been proven more beneficial than chemical-based products. Similar to older times, people are choosing the use of herbal products over others.
