The Formula One teams have confirmed their reserve drivers for the brand-new season of 21/22

The brand-new season of Formula One is underway as racers are putting their all to snatch the world title. All eyes are on Mercedes as Lewis Hamilton has returned to the cockpit along with Finnish partner Valtteri Bottas. Red Bull racing headed by team chief Christian Horner is keen to unsettle the Mercedes and have their lofty hopes pinned on youngster Max Verstappen and his wingman, Sergio Perez. Down the pecking order is Scuderia Ferrari, headed by the young and competitive duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.

These names and teams are the leading ones in the world of Formula One at present. However, certain names do not receive attention because they sit behind the scenes and wait for their turn to race when the primary drivers are injured or cannot race for some other reason. They are acknowledged as the reserve drivers who jump into the cockpit to rescue the team from troublesome situations. In this article, we’ve drafted an overview of the reserve drivers from the Formula One teams for the 21/22 season.

Mercedes- For the 21/22 season, Mercedes has selected two reserve drivers: Stoffel Vandoorne and Nyck de Vries. Vandoorne is a 28-year-old Belgian racing driver who once competed in FI for McLaren in the year 2018. Nyck de Vries is a 26-year-old Dutch racer who competes in Formula-E for the Mercedes Benz EQ team.

Red Bull- Alex Albon is a Thai-British driver who raced for the Red Bull Racing team from the 2019 mid-season to the end of the 2020 season. In that brief period, he impressed Red Bull and therefore; the team has selected him as a reserve driver.

McLaren- For McLaren, Stoffel Vandoorne and Nyck de Vries are the reserve drivers. Yes, they may represent two teams.

Alpine- Alpine has chosen 26-year-old Russia racer Daniil Kvyat. So far, the racer has picked up three podiums in F1.

Alpha Tauri- Apart from Red Bull, Alpha Tauri has also selected Alex Albon as their reserve driver.

Alfa Romeo- Drove three years for the Sauber F1 team, Kubica is a 36-year-old legend whose hand was practically severed in an accident.

HAAS- Since last season, Pietro Fittipaldi has served as the reserve driver for HAAS.
