ENG vs. IND: Five Players From the 2021 Lord's Victory Who Are Still in the Present Squad

While the majority of the 2025 squad comprises new faces, five players from the 2025 Lord’s victory are still present in the Indian squad for the England tour

The iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground is not a venue that brings good memories for Indian cricket, especially in the Test format. After all, the team has only won three matches at the Mecca of Cricket since the nation started playing Test cricket.

India, having won the second Test at Edgbaston, tied the series and looks forward to taking a lead in the third match to be played at Lord’s. The team’s last game at this venue was in 2021, which they won, and the Men in Blue will strive to maintain the momentum and build a streak.

Fortunately, the present squad, despite being young with the majority of new faces, still comprises five players from the 2021 squad who won the game.

Who are they? Take a look!

KL Rahul

KL Rahul is the senior-most figure in the team, and with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli absent, he has performed well enough in the first and second matches. Looking back at the Lord’s 2021 game, KL Rahul was a star with his 129 runs in the first innings that helped India win the game and earned him the Player of the Match award.

Rishabh Pant

It is always a treat to have Pant on the team, be it in terms of outrageous, unorthodox batting or comments that the stump mic catches, leading to witty headlines. In the 2021 game, Pant had scored 37 and 22 across the two innings. The ongoing series has seen Pant doing wonders with the bat, but much more is expected from him if India wishes to script another historic win at Lord’s.

Ravindra Jadeja

A season all-rounder, questions were asked when Jadeja didn’t do much in the first Test. However, at Edgbaston, he replied with a brilliant 89 and 69 in the first and second innings, respectively. In the 2021 Lord’s Test, Jadeja did not have a good time, as he only managed 40 runs in one of the innings. With the ball, he did not have a single wicket. This time, Jadeja will hope to do better and increase India’s chances of winning.

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah had picked three crucial wickets in the second innings of the Lord’s 2021 Test. Bumrah has already taken five wickets in the current series, but we know that this is just the beginning, and on a good day, he has the potential to take all 10 wickets. Bumrah will undoubtedly bring his A-game at the Lord’s to ensure India keeps the momentum going.

Mohammed Siraj

At the Lord’s 2021 Test, KL Rahul was the star with his 129, but the game ended in India’s favour because of Mohammed Siraj. The speedster picked up four wickets in the first innings and repeated the feat in the second innings, breaking England’s middle order and bringing their end to a meagre 120. Siraj is already the third-highest wicket-taker of the ongoing series, and he will surely love to reach the top by picking a good few at the Lord’s.
