Belgian-born, naturalized American theatre director, film director, and producer, Israel UluGrosbard had a fruitful creative career in Hollywood. Despite a degree in arts and drama, Grosbard joined the United States Army. However, his interest in theatre grew bigger and he moved to New York City in the early 1960s. Grosbard went on to direct off-Broadway shows The Days and Nights of BeeBeeFenstermaker, The Subject Was Roses, and A View from the Bridge. After that, there was no looking back and the filmmaker ventured into films. Here are some of the gems narrations directed by UluGrosbard.

The Deep End of the Ocean

The film stars actors Michelle Pfeiffer, Jonathan Jackson, and Whoopi Goldberg, among others. It is based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Jacquelyn Mitchard. This 1999 drama film traces the traumatic journey of the family after their son is kidnapped and found years later. The story takes place during the high school reunion when Beth Cappadora's, played by Michelle Pfeiffer, youngest son - three-year-old - Ben disappears from the venue. The disappearance is dealt with by calling the police and the search remains unsuccessful. But after nine a familiar-looking boy turns up at their house to mow their lawn. The Subject Was Roses

This 1968 Metrocolor drama film is based on Frank D. Gilroy's 1964 Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same title. The film has actors Patricia Neal, Martin Sheen, and Jack Albertson. The story set in the aftermath of World War II shows Timmy Cleary, played by Martin Sheen, returning to his home in the Bronx. But upon arrival, he discovers that his parents have started to constantly quarrel. During this period, he finds himself getting closer to his father, John, played by Jack Albertson.

True Confessions

The film stars Robert De Niro and Robert Duvall, as the brothers Spellacy. While one brother becomes a priest and the other becomes a police detective. This 1981 neo-noir crime film is an adaption of the novel of the same name by John Gregory Dunne. The story is loosely based on the Black Dahlia murder case of 1947.
