Did you know Indians ordered mangoes worth Rs 25 crore on Zepto in April? Alphonso tops order list

As per a data by Zepto, Indians were busy in April by taking to online stores to order the king of fruits.

With the mango season here, it would not be wrong to say that India’s obsession with the king of fruits is on its zenith. And given the heat, people are not heading to fruit markets, but instead, are taking to online stores to buy mangoes.

In fact, as per data shared by Zepto, popular grocery delivery app, Indians, in the month of April, have ordered mangoes worth Rs 25 crore. Every single day, the app got mango orders worth Rs 60 lakh and now the mango mania is going strong even in May. Guess what? The orders in May are likely to surpass April numbers too.

Not just regular mangoes, the demand for raw mangoes also saw a rise with customers ordering raw mangoes worth Rs 25 lakhs.

Interestingly, Alphonso, which is the most expensive mango variant, was ordered the most on Zepto. Also, the mango from Ratnagiri was loved in cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi. Alphonso covered 30 per cent share of total mango sales on Zepto.

Followed by Alphonso, it was Bainganpalli from Andhra Pradesh, which captured 25 per cent of the total mango sales on Zepto. Since fresh mango juice is a popular choice, Bainganpalli was ordered highly. Kesar mangoes too were loved by mango aficionados.

Zepto revealed that the company sources mangoes from over 1,000 talented farmers across India. The top sources for each variety include Ratnagiri and Devgad for Alphonso, Jalna & Junagarh for Kesar, Anantapur, Chittor, and Kolhapur for Badami, Pallakad for Lalbagh, Krishnagiri, and Ramnagar for Totapuri, and several others.
