Following Royal Challengers Bangalore's exit from the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2023, former player Chris Gayle took to social media to share a reel.
Chris Gayle, a former player for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), uploaded a reel on social media following the team's elimination from the IPL in 2023. The Bollywood song "Apun Jaise Tapori" from the movie "Munna Bhai MBBS" played in the background as Gayle sobbed about Virat Kohli and Co. missing out on the playoffs.
Notably, Gayle participated in 142 IPL games, accumulating 4965 points with a strike rate of around 150 and an average of close to 40. He still holds the IPL record for the most runs scored in a single inning (175 not out). He was an RCB player from 2011 to 2017.
With an outstanding century in RCB's final league match of the IPL 2023, Shubman Gill demonstrated his potential as Virat Kohli's likely successor. Gill's undefeated 104 off 52 balls, though, helped the Gujarat Titans to a six-wicket victory and eliminate RCB from the tournament despite Kohli's 101 off 61 balls.
The Mumbai Indians, led by Rohit Sharma, were able to clinch the fourth playoff position thanks to this outcome. With back-to-back centuries to his credit, Gill's performance showcased his extraordinary batting abilities and cemented his place as a promising asset for Indian cricket. His performance outperformed Kohli's and demonstrated his prowess on a huge platform.
