Bollywood movies that will make you want to travel

From scenic background to iconic scenes, these movies will make you travel

If our Bollywood films beyond giving us masala, entertainment, and dialogues, have given anything else are their exotic locations leaving the audience bitten by a travel bug. While the bug resides inside all of us, the movies become a gateway to the tough realities of life that we often do not address.

No matter how much of it we don’t want to accept, travel is life and is a way of living. So while we might ignore the travel bug inside us, these Bollywood movies through their picturesque background won’t let it settle unless you make that travel.

Dil Chahta Hai
This film bit the Indian audience with the fever of Goa. This movie set a benchmark and inspired a whole new generation for a road trip with friends. While the movie gave the place a friendly charm, it also showed the audience its quaint beaches, Goan cuisine, friendly locals, and iconic churches. Though there are other things for which this film will be remembered, this film hugely set the travel goals for a whole generation.

Rang De Basanti
This 2006 film with a revolutionary concept highlighting patriotism, sacrifice, history, and politics, also gave people a real glimpse of north India. Apart from the riveting storyline, the movie is also famous for its sublime portrayal of Delhi and Punjab, from their sunset bike rides to the India Gate, especially the ‘Nahargarh Fort’ in Jaipur. Punjab was prominently shown in the movie right from the Golden Temple, the Hola Mohalla festival of Anandpur Sahib, and the legendary Durga Sarai Fort of Ludhiana.

Jab We Met
The large part of this film responsible for influencing the audience to travel is its train journeys. Tracing the tracks of Geet and Aditya, who meet on a train in Mumbai and then together embark on a journey, making pit-stops at Ratlam, Kota, Bhatinda, Manali, and Shimla, via different vehicles like bus, rickshaw, truck, cycle, and jeep make one realize how beautiful India is and how much one is missing on it. From featuring Rohtang Pass to Naggar Castle, the movie showed a lot.

Zindagi Na MilegiDobara
This is an ultimate travel movie in Bollywood, of three friends on one trip. Three men on a trip, besides strengthening their friendship, overcoming fears, took the Indian audience on a journey from Barcelona to Costa Brava to Buñol en route Seville and finally to Pamplona. It showed the scenic landscapes with adventures like deep-sea diving, skydiving, and the exhilarating ‘Bull Run’ and ‘La Tomatina’ festival.

Few other films that will inspire you to travel are Highway, Hum Tum, Love Aaj Kal, 3 Idiots, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Queen to name a few.
