Benefits of thinking 'one good thing every day'

Let’s not hold on to the negative thoughts, let’s focus more on positivity!

Thoughts have powers – be it positive ones or negative ones! We come across a bunch of thoughts every second of the day, if you want to get into the numeric, it’s 70000 thoughts per day! That’s a lot of thoughts, I know. Imagine if each one of them had even an ounce of energy, we all have the power to wield that kind of energy every day, every single one of them! Isn’t that incredible. And now if we keep on focusing on energies that serve no good to us, what does that mean? Simply put, it’s not helpful! And if we can turn all that energy through positive thoughts, imagine how different it would be!

The thoughts do have incredible amounts of power to manifest, be it negative or positive! Both good and bad things might happen in one day. Yet most of the time, most of us, tend to cling on to the ones unfavorable, the negative thoughts and ideas keep us thinking all about them, over and over again. It’s as if negative thoughts have addictive powers! We have negative thoughts when we sleep, and they are still bothering us in the morning.

I set a hard rule for myself to limit my attention to only the good thoughts, but we are all habitual creatures, it will take us to form such a habit and maintain it. But it is possible. All we need to do is make an effort to reflect on all the good aspects of my day. After this mental exercise, sleeping becomes easier and I quickly fall into a calming slumber.

Not only did I have a good night's sleep, but I also felt refreshed and upbeat when I woke up. Amazingly, this sense of contentment didn’t only make my sleep better, it also helped me focus more on my research and studies, my work and keep my nerves calm. Here is how we do it with some simple steps.

Let us choose just one lesson that we would like to take away from a poor day. Each day comes with a varied range of experiences; we cannot say a bad day was a truly bad day that offered us nothing. I am sure there were some experiences that we had even on such a bad day that helped us, or at least taught us something for the future. That’s our take away. That’s our one good thought a day!
