One of the most popular and most adventurous outdoor sports is dirt biking or also known by the name off-roading. All it requires is the grit and the courage to rampage through the rocky muddy terrains without getting hurt. Obviously riding with the best, high power, and light dirt bikes made specifically for this purpose. So if you are someone wanting to get into the area of off-roading or dirt biking, here are some tips for beginners.

Begin by building endurance and stamina

This should be the first and foremost step towards indulging in any kind of sport. Building stamina is important as the outdoors for dirt biking doesn’t comprise smooth roads. It requires the rider to be able to handle the bike and the weight of self, effortlessly when cursing the bike through the rickety terrains.

At the same time when the bike takes the jumps and bumps from the rocky roads, it passes on to the rider. If one is a lousy rider with a weak grip and strength the jerks can prove fatal. Hence it is of utmost importance that as a beginners focus is laid on building the stamina and strength to handle the bike and jerks.

Gearing up for the mission

You don’t need only to be an Avenger to be gearing up before going onto the field. Considering the sport and the danger involved, it is always advised to beginners as well as the experienced dirt bikers that always move with your gear.

For off-roading trips, the biker requires the basic gear of a helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads. The helmet is the most important one and there are helmets designed especially for dirt bikes. Another important gear is glasses for eye protection. While there are helmets with built-in eye protection, an extra pair of glasses won’t harm. There are many bikers who also wear full body armour which includes the knee protector and also boots.

Practice the art of ‘Clutch Control and Shifting’

Dirt bikes are a bit different in mechanism than the usual track racing bikes. In dirt bikes, the only way to change gears is by making use of the shifter located in front of the left foot peg. Adult dirt bikes come with five gears with neutral after the first gear.  After the first gear is the neutral and then 2, 3, 4, and 5. The changing of the gear is a bit tricky as after pressing down the clutch for the first gear, it requires to be pushed a bit upper to bring in neutral and then goes the rest of the gear.
