Australian Cricketers to Participate in the New American T20 Competition

The inaugural Major League Cricket T20 tournament in the US, which begins in July, will include former Australian T20 captain Aaron Finch as well as current stars Mitch Marsh and Marcus Stoinis.

Finch and Stoinis were named as the initial captains of the San Francisco Unicorns, and Marsh, who had just thrashed India in an ODI, was named as a new signing for the Seattle Orcas.

On Monday morning, Houston hosted the first player draft, but the Australians were introduced as stand-alone overseas signings for their respective teams in the most recent T20 competition to join the global circus.

Quinton de Kock signed by Seattle Orcas

The Seattle Orcas signed South African Quinton de Kock, and the DC Freedom also added fast bowler Anrich Nortje, who was his team's standout performer in the Test series against Australia last summer.

However, players from their already well-established domestic rivalry dominated the draft itself. The Orcas selected spinning all-rounder Harmeet Singh, 30, in the first round of the draft. He was a member of the 2012 World Cup-winning India U-19 team.

In order to help them grow their franchises, Cricket Victoria and Cricket NSW recently revealed partnerships with the MLC. Representatives from Cricket Victoria, which is allied with the Unicorns, were present at the draft to assist them in assembling their team.

Brody Crouch, a fast bowler from Victoria, will also play for the Unicorns.

MLC Season upcoming matches

Starting on July 13, the 2023 MLC season will consist of 19 games spread over 18 days. The Unicorns will be one of the six teams competing, along with groups from Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.
