The report is generated by the United Nations on the occasion of World Happiness Day on March 20 every year.
Just like every year, the World Happiness Report for 2023 has been released. The survey covered almost 137 countries. Afghanistan became the least happy country, while Finland came out on top.
Finland gets the crown as the happiest country in the world for the sixth time in a row.
This is followed by Denmark on the 2nd and Iceland on the 3rd to complete the podium. Israel jumps up to the 4th, the Netherlands to the 5th. Nordic countries Sweden and Norway fill the 6th and 7th spots, while Switzerland, Luxembourg, and New Zealand complete the top 10, respectively.
India ranked 126th, which is 12th from the bottom. It is indeed a bad representation of the overall condition of human development in the world media.
The results are promising, according to Lara Aknin, one of the co-authors of the report. "This year’s report features many interesting insights," Aknin said in a release, as quoted by Forbes. "But one that I find particularly interesting and heartening has to do with pro-sociality. For a second year, we see that various forms of everyday kindness, such as helping a stranger, donating to charity, and volunteering, are above pre-pandemic levels."
