Zulu, ‘The people of the heavens’

This South African tribe is one of the famous among many and recently they are coming out to have a modern outlook and lifestyle. However, on special occasions, they embrace their tradition. The population of the tribe greatly increased during the 19th century. They believe in the philosophy called “Ubuntu” which means unity and togetherness. Still now they prefer to be united to stay strong and more powerful than others.

Maasai, a tribe of tradition and culture

Next comes the Maasai who are still known for their tradition and culture. People of this tribe are from the countries of Tanzania and Kenya and they still stay in Kraals which form circles. Their livelihood depends on raising domestic animals like goats, cattle and sheep.

San Bushmen, the third on this list

San Bushmen have found their homes in the areas like Botswana, Namibia and Angola. During 80s, a discovery of diamonds occurred which led many Bushmen to leave their territory because the homes and other facilities were destroyed. But later ‘Central Kalahari Game Reserve’ was made to protect the tradition of Bushmen.

Yoruba, the largest tribe of the African continent

A tribe containing more than 35 million natives which is really a great number to make them the largest tribe on this land. They are not actually an individual group but an amalgamation of various people who share the same language, culture and history.

Though many of them are coming out of their traditional outlook, still it’s their tradition and tribal culture which still hold them together.
