Apart from them, Namit featured in Rocket Boys (2022) by Abhay Pannu—a SonyLIV series— starring Jim Sarbh, playing Homi Bhabha. In this series, Namit is seen playing Prosenjit—a Central Intelligence Agency handler. Namit’s journey into acting started with theatre. His love affair with theatre started when he was in college. The actor loved frequenting the popular Prithvi Theatre—juggling college lectures with his ever-growing knack for acting. Soon, Namit was offered a role in a play, and while he was delivering his performance in front of the audience, right in that moment, he knew he wanted to make acting his bread-and-butter.

His Venture As a Professional Music Composer

The actor-musician has crooned and composed a song for ‘A Suitable Boy,’—a series directed by Mira Nair. The song: The Boatman Song—it plays during a pivotal scene when the romance between the two lead characters starts blooming. What makes the song more special is that Yamini Dass, Namit's mother, has penned it—and this soothing composition is his maiden musical collaboration with her. It is also essential to note that Anoushka Shankar—the world-famous sitarist—has created the music album for ‘A Suitable Boy,’ and her work has greatly influenced Namit to pursue music. He has also composed music for ‘Monsoon Wedding Musical’ by Mira Nair.

A Family with Chock-full Talent

Namit’s father Chandan Dass is a veteran ghazal singer. The actor-musician’s family is full of singers—and from his childhood days—Namit had had an inclination toward music. Chandan Dass had received training under Pandit Mani Prasad and Ustad Moosa Khan’s tutelage. Yamini Dass, the actor’s mother, made her acting debut in Sui Dhaaga and shared the screen space with her son. She also received a Filmfare Award nomination in the category of Best Supporting Actress for her brilliant performance in the film.
