The 24-year-old gathered up an errant ball inside his own half, moved a short distance forward, and then fired a dipping missile of a shot over Aaron Ramsdale's head and into the goal.
It was also an important goal, bringing the last-16 match to a 1-1 draw on the night and a 3-3 tie overall that required extra time and penalties, in which Sporting prevailed.
